Event includes a special evening hands-on workshop, hosted by P+S Technik,
featuring the innovative Novo and the PS-Cam X35.

Radiant Images, an LA-based rental house and digital cinema innovator, will show its groundbreaking Novo action camera and stabilized handheld, known as a brushless gimbal, at IBC 2013 in Amsterdam on Sept. 13-17.

Michael Mansouri, VP of Radiant Images, will be on hand in the P+S Technik stand 11.E59 to meet with attendees and discuss the Novo and its brand-new gimbal accessory. P+S Technik is L.A.-based Radiant’s European rental partner for the Novo.

In addition, on Sunday (Sept. 15), P+S Technik will host a special private, hands-on workshop featuring the Novo and its PS-Cam X35. Space is limited and registration is mandatory. The evening event - 7 to 9 p.m. - is free and will take place at an off-site location in the center of Amsterdam. Register at www.pstechnik.de/handsonnovo.

IBC (International Broadcasting Convention)  is the premier annual event for professionals engaged in the creation, management and delivery of entertainment and news content worldwide. Attracting 50,000+ attendees from more than 160 countries, IBC combines a highly respected and peer-reviewed conference with an exhibition that exhibits more than 1,400 leading suppliers of state-of-the-art electronic media technology.

At IBC, Mansouri will unveil a lightweight stabilized handheld, called a brushless gimbal, designed and built by Radiant’s in-house engineer specifically for the Novo. The gimbal provides professional filmmakers with a powerful, easy-to-use new accessory to further enhance the capabilities of the tiny Novo action camera, released in February.

The Novo (www.novocamera.com), developed by Radiant Images and View Factor Studios, is built with a GoPro sensor but offers key cinematic features. The camera, which weighs just 3.2 ounces and fits in the palm of the hand, includes a C-mount lens system plus a PL mount adapter, back focus adjustment, and exposure control capabilities that open up a wide-range of artistic possibilities for cinematographers and camera operators. The camera won a MARIO Award for innovation at NAB 2013 and already has been used on a number of feature films, including Transformers 4, Need for Speed, Ten and Fast & Furious 7.

The high-performance, 3 axis brushless gimbal offers 360 degrees of continuous rotation using magnetic fields. The high-torque servo drive, designed with reduction of vibration in mind, is capable of the highest precision possible.

“Our gimbal is revolutionary because it’s so small and so precise and made specifically for the camera,” said Mansouri, who pointed out that a fully-outfitted Novo gimbal weighs just four pounds, complete with the camera, lens, wireless video and batteries.

“Having a lightweight system like this is truly a new freedom as it allows the filmmaker to execute shots in a simple and effortless way, not constrained by size and weight,” he added.
